The magnificent parkland home of the Chickweed Trophy — where fairways are beautiful, history is rich, and the post-round bar is legendary.
Official Club Website ↗Cathcart Castle Golf Club is one of Glasgow's finest parkland courses, nestled in the leafy south side of the city. Founded in 1899, the club has over 125 years of golfing heritage — which makes the Chickweed Trophy one of its more recent (but arguably most entertaining) traditions.
The course winds through magnificent tree-lined fairways that reward accurate ball-striking whilst punishing the errant shot with the sort of rough that makes strong men weep. Perfect conditions, in other words, for the annual Chickweed showdown.
The clubhouse offers everything a golfer could need after 18 holes — a warm welcome, excellent facilities, and a bar that has witnessed more Chickweed Trophy celebrations (and commiserations) than it probably cares to remember.
Visitors are welcome — though for the Weed itself, you'll want an invite from The Great Mont.

Why Cathcart Castle and the Weed are a match made in golfing heaven
Since that fateful September weekend in 1991, Cathcart Castle Golf Club has been the stage upon which the Chickweed Trophy drama has played out annually. Thirty-plus years of birdies, bogeys, near misses, miraculous shots, and the occasional episode that definitely did not make it into the official minutes.
The club has shown remarkable tolerance — some might say remarkable acceptance — of the Chickweed circus. They've even installed a Huxley mat on the first tee specifically for our nearest-the-pin competition, which we choose to interpret as a mark of deep respect.
Every year, the September weekend sees the fairways fill with players of wildly varying ability, all chasing the same dream: to slip on that green (or pink) jacket and etch their name into Chickweed lore forever.
