Golf done. Bar done. Only one thing left to do.
Rule 6: When the golf ends, the curry begins
After the golf, after the prizegiving, after the bar — whoever is still upright, still coherent, and still capable of reading a menu gets the honour of heading to The New Turban at Eastwood Toll. It is not compulsory. It has never not happened.
Every great sporting tradition has its post-match ritual. Rugby players have their third half. Footballers have their post-match interview where they say "over the moon" or "sick as a parrot." The Chickweed Trophy has the curry.
For as long as anyone can reliably remember — which, given the volume of liquid consumed over the course of the day, is frankly impressive — the survivors of the Weed have made the short pilgrimage from Cathcart Castle Golf Club to The New Turban at Eastwood Toll, Giffnock. Some go for the food. Some go because they can't face going home yet. Most go for both.
The route is familiar. The company is good. The poppadoms arrive quickly — which, at this stage of the evening, is absolutely essential. Over the years the Turban has witnessed some of the finest post-round analysis in Chickweed history, a good deal of disputed scorecards being relitigated over a korma, and at least one occasion involving a naan bread that shall not be discussed further.
Attendance at the nose bag is not recorded in the official minutes. It absolutely should be. The tales that emerge from the back table at The New Turban are arguably as legendary as anything that happened on the 18th green.
You must satisfy at least four of the following criteria:
Photographic evidence. It happened. It always happens.

Unverified. Highly probable.
The dependable favourite. Ordered by at least four people every single year.
For the man who played well and deserves something bold. Or the man who played badly and needs consoling.
Ordered by everyone. Eaten by everyone. Probably responsible for a significant portion of the bill.
The silent hero of every table. Nobody specifically orders it. It always arrives. Nobody complains.
Technically a condiment. Consumed in quantities that suggest otherwise.
Technically not food. An essential part of the nose bag experience nonetheless.
Whether you're a Chickweed survivor or just someone who appreciates outstanding Indian food, The New Turban at Eastwood Toll comes with the highest possible Chickweed endorsement.
